Have you ever looked at someone and known what they were feeling?
Have you ever analysed moods based on facial expressions?
Have you ever stopped and just made someone your priority, no matter what it cost you?
Sometimes it’s not the amount of time that you spend with a person but the quality of time. It’s how you adapt to their needs, forgetting your own – every now and again. It’s about making them know that you have them, regardless of time and circumstance. It’s about saying: “I love you. I’m not going anywhere. I got you.”
Because we all get tired, exhaustion creeping in and we lose ourselves in one way or another. You’re tired of trying, tired of waiting. You’re tired of the walls you’ve built up around your heart, around your mind. Tired of putting your best foot out there only to be welcomed with criticism, anger, rejection.
Tired of hearing the same old words: “It’s going to be okay…”
The light at the end of the tunnel gets harder and harder to find – the clouds just keep building up and getting in the way. It’s hard to find your voice when all you hear is the darkness crippling your mind.
But listen here:
You are not defined by the people who have walked away from you.
You are a beautiful complexity, it is not your fault that no one is willing to push through to see the you that’s waiting, arms outstretched.
And don’t be fooled by all of those people that have claimed that you are like an open-book. Sure, there has been a few who have forced down your walls – but, in the end, they will give up and blame you. Treating you like you are some kind of flaw. As if it’s something you need to fix.
Don’t allow them to talk to you like that.
They just don’t understand that the goal is not to get to the end, because YOU are the maze – difficult, yet magical.
And you know how I know?
Because I was you.
And I have come to realise that the right one will always stay.
Because everything matters when it comes to you.
You are meant to have someone who sees right through your guise. Someone who doesn’t need to know everything that has ever happened to you to understand you.
Because someday they will call you their home.
