To Me, You are Perfect

To Me, You are Perfect

It’s holiday season, which means it’s almost Christmas, which means you watch Love Actually on repeat for a few days… well if you are me.

And, it’s Christmas time, so you can’t lie.

So, this is me not going to lie.

This is me knocking on your door at 11:59pm waiting for you to answer.

This is me feeling my heart pound out of my chest.

This is me telling you that, to me, you are perfect.

What if I told you that I can’t help but smile every single time I am with you.

What if I told you that our laughter is the best melody I have ever heard.

What if I told you that no matter how far apart we are, I can still feel that spark.

What if I told you that because of you my life has been filled with incredible moments.

This is me telling you that I am thankful

I am thankful for the way your hand feels resting on my knee.

I am thankful for the interlocking of fingers, three squeezes that signify words that go whispered into the night.

I am thankful for the ways in which I can count on you, and how simply beautiful that is.

What if I told you that from the moment I saw you, I felt it, that flutter in my chest.

What if I told you that when my name first escaped your lips my heart melted.

This is me telling you that I like the way you smile.

This is me telling you that I like the way your eyes water when you laugh.

What if I told you I love you.

What if I told you that those three words could never be enough.

What if I told you that the quiet moments shared between us explain the wonderful ways in which we have shifted from strangers to knowing what each other wants before ever asking for it.

This is me telling you that you are my person.

This is me telling you that you are the best damn thing that has ever been mine.

What if I told you always, a promise from my favourite book that can now become ours, blending all of our yesterdays and tomorrows together.

What if I said that you were it for me.

Would that be enough to make you stay?

Because, to me, you are perfect.
