I’m hopeless, but if you haven’t figured that out by now I don’t think you ever will. If you ever have the chance to watch a romantic movie with me, don’t laugh. I get so into the romantic cheesy-ness of it all that it makes my heart happy. I love how the writers can write such intimate scenes, how the actors chemistry takes off, how the director can capture it all in just one scene. Even if it is fake, the love that is shared is a magical thing to watch.
These are a few scenes that melt my heart in both television and movies.
Say Anything
At this point, he hasn’t won Diane back yet but Lloyd would do and say anything to get her back. This movie shows the flaws of normal relationships and this grand romantic gesture isn’t lost on the modern world that we live in – or at least I hope it isn’t.
The Breakfast Club
Don’t you forget about me – enough said.
Sixteen Candles
John Hughes strikes again.
The Wedding Singer
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore have a relationship like no other. They have this chemistry that hits you like a baseball to the face: hard, genuine, and all powerful. The lyrics are cheesy but real. Don’t you wish that someone would do this to you?
The Notebook
The whole movie (and book) is an ode to romance at its finest. No matter how much back and forth Allie and Noah go through, no matter how many times she yells and he screams right back – it is true. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams know how to get the audience believing every word that comes out of their mouths. So many moments are relatable in real life situations that it hits you where it hurts. I can’t pick just one scene, so here’s two.
10 Things I Hate About You
This was one of the first romantic movies I can remember watching as soon as it came out. I was young and it still resonating in me. It was the movie that made me fall head-over-heels in love with Heath Leger.
On to TV…
How I Met Your Mother
Out of all the Lily and Marshall scenes I could have picked, I chose the one scene that made me cry like no tomorrow. Ted’s 45 Days speech and his pursuit to find the love of his life is what kept this show going. This emotional speech is what got me hooked.
Veronica Mars
Team Logan, always. He was the one you loved to hate, and then he became the one you loved to love. Logan was always charming, he always knew what to say. This has got to be the most famous scene for their epic romance.
The Office
Jim and Pam’s relationship was the heart of the show. Love never fails.
Dawson’s Creek
You make my heart happy.
The Vampire Diaries
This edit of Damon and Elena’s last dance is just as beautiful as their last scene together.
The O.C.
How can you not fall for Seth Cohen?
All great movies! I still haven’t seen How I met your mother. Need to put that on my list.
