Sorry, not sorry.
You all know my love for Beauty and the Beast. You all know that it holds one of the highest spots in my heart when it comes to Disney movies… maybe most fairytales in general. As unrealistic as the movie may be, it is (in my humble opinion) the most realistic when it comes to love.
All of us, whether we like to admit to it or not, are naturally attracted to those people who are somewhat opposite from us. We also have the tendency to want to help those around us. So, yeah, the tale that is as old as time has taught me some of my most valuable lessons on love.
We are all a little weird. We all have something that makes us stick out. We all have something that attracts others to us. Like Dr. Seuss said, love means accepting each other’s weirdness. We don’t have to be accepted by the entire world, or even people within an arms distance from us, but we do have to be accepted by those that love us. You will find that one person who will accept you just the way you are. That person will love you regardless – fully and to the end of time.
We are only here for a short amount of time. We only have one shot. There are going to be so many times where we will have to make certain things a priority and other things will have to be left in our rearview mirror. You have to give your time to those people who are worth it, the ones that are going to give you their time too. There are also going to be times when you have to sacrifice your own life in order to save someone else’s because you would rather put yourself in the line of fire than see them in pain.
We all have moments of anger – it’s life. There are times when anger does not mix with love. You have to allow yourself to never walk away from a fight. You have to allow yourself to never go to bed angry. You also have to be brave enough to stand up for yourself, especially when you are unhappy.
We all have a sense when someone we love is being sincere with not only their feelings but with what they share with you. The most sincere person, no matter how broken, will always embrace their vulnerabilities and share with you their minds. Remember this.
We all are born with hearts that are ready to love. It is inevitable that there will be times we will give it away and it will be broken. But that shouldn’t hold you back from trying again. We all have to put in the effort to get to know someone – in it you will not only figure out new things about yourself, but you will find a piece of happiness from it. It is okay to dig a little deeper when they shy away from their true selves. Because that is the only way we will be able to find the sweetest kind of love there is.
We all have the ability to use words to get us somewhere. We string together various sets of words to get our points across. But there are times when words lost meaning when they are not followed up with actions. There are times when your actions will speak louder than your words. Showing this will give memories that will last a lifetime.
Never stop learning something new about the one you love. Appreciate them.
People talk. People have their own opinions and love to voice them. Don’t listen. Follow your own instincts and let them guide you. Only you know how you truly feel deep down – only you can guide your own destiny.
