In this life, in our lives, we will go through periods of darkness. Moments where the light, the joy is sucked out of us. But this is me telling you that you will never be alone. As long as I am in your life, you will never be alone.
I will be there to love you on the days where it is hard to love yourself. I will be there to guide your eyes open when all you want to do is sleep the days away. I will love you when there is no music playing from your speakers, and the dust has piled itself up on your windowsill.
I will love you on the days that you can’t find a reason to continue. When you look up to the ceiling of your bedroom and everything else becomes silent. When your dreams are out of your reach and come to you in the form of a crumpled piece of paper. I will love you when you are feeling defeated, when the air has become too heavy.
I will love you when the world gets dark. When each day seems like a lifetime. When the weight on your shoulders becomes so heavy that you don’t remember what it feels like to be free. I will love you when you decide to come up for air and ask for help because you can no longer walk this journey alone.
I will be the voice that you need to hear, the one that softly wakes you from the sleep that kept you under for so long. I will be the laughter that you need to hear, the old telling you jokes and memories from our time together. My hands will find yours, my lips will find your forehead, my arms will pull your closer.
I will be the shoulder that you need, the one that will take all of your tears – all your sorrow. I will be the one to take on the weight, the one that will help you become free. I will welcome the silence with you, when words are not what you need – please let the comfort sink in.
I will be the promises that won’t break – I will be the one to stay. And every single time you try to push me away, I will pull myself closer. And every time you try to walk away, I will take one step closer. I will take the time to remind you why you are here, why you matter, why you are enough. I won’t stop reminding you.
I will not come before you with judgement nor will I treat you any differently. I will never see you less than what you are. I will be there for you, like I always have been, in happiness.
I am blessed to be a part of your life.
