“Kid, you’ll move mountains! Today is your day! You mountain is waiting. So… get on your way!” – Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You Will Go!
“Adults are just obsolete children and the hell with them.” – Dr. Seuss
“Nonesense wakes up the brain cells. And it helps develop a sense of humor, which is awfully important in this day and age. Humor has a tremendous place in this sordid world. It’s more than just a matter of laughing. If you can see things out of whack, then you can see how things can be in whack.” – Dr. Seuss
“Children want the same things we want. To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained, and delighted.” – Dr. Seuss
There is nothing more magical than opening a children’s book and reading the wisdom again as you grow older. It is fascinating the things that we forget with time, the things that can still have an impact on us today. Now, Dr. Seuss is not the only children’s author to do this, but today is his day – I will dedicate another post to wonderful children’s books soon.
It is not every day that you can go back and read something and have it make an impact. Literature is knowledge in our very own hands. Books, even at a young age, teach us so much wisdom – so much about life and love and travel. Dr. Seuss gave us an arsenal of life wisdom while we were just children, he gave us the most magical prose. The words that were written on the pages of the books stuck in your heads hours after reading it; I think to this day I can still recite, word for word: Green Eggs and Ham; One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. These books were filled with more than just quirky cartoons and witty rhymes. Theodor Seuss Geisel, was a wise man and I am thankful that his books, even today, can have such an impact.
These are just a few of the quotes from Dr. Seuss that have left a lasting impression on me. These are the books that I won’t mind reading over and over again to my future children. These are the books that I will always go back to on a hard day. These books are creative, wise and give a sense of individuality. These are the books that will live on throughout the generations.
Enjoy these few quotes, let them make you smile on a bad day. Let Dr. Seuss be your go-to, I know that he is one of mine, even at the age of 27.
Happy Dr. Seuss Day. Let his words take you back to your childhood, even if it is just for today. Let his thoughts on happiness, life, love, optimism, dreams, inspiration, trouble and time get you through. Remember his words, I know you do. Let them make you smile, make you laugh. It is always okay to become a child for a day, it is always okay to be you.
“Today you are YOU, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is YOU-er than YOU!” – Dr. Seuss, Happy Birthday to You
“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” – Dr. Seuss
“I’m sorry to say but, sadly it’s true that bang-ups and hang-ups can happen to you.” Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You Will Go!
